Albuquerque has been good to me. It is the place of my birth. It's where I learned more about who I am and what I want to be. It's where I had my first (real) full time job. Albuquerque is the place where I learned more about my family history and grew to love my grandmothers even more, and learned to appreciate where they have been in life, and in turn, how that affected me. Albuquerque is where I fell in love and married my best friend. Albuquerque is where I learned to grow up, just a little, so I can one day hopefully emulate and be the kind of graceful woman that I see in my mom, my grandma, and my great-grandma. It is where I became a mom and learned that being a mother is the most important thing I could ever do with my life. Albuquerque is the place where we got to spend time with all the extended family (cousins, second cousins, great uncles, etc) every month. Albuquerque is where I learned to really count my blessings and be grateful for everything I have, including the gift of life. More than anything, Albuquerque is where I learned how much my family truly means to me. I think I have a bond with the generations in my family (there are 5!) stronger than many people ever have the opportunity to develop. Albuquerque has truly been a place of blessings for me.
Thankfully, moving doesn't mean goodbye. I will be visiting often! Especially while I am still having work done on my mouth, but there's no way I could move and just not come and visit. I would miss the people I love too much (especially my grandma and my great-grandma).
Thank you for being kind to me, Albuquerque. You will always hold a fond place in my heart.
